With this safari, Mukisa Safaris Uganda gets you on a thrilling road adventure to encounter the Gorillas, Chimpanzees, Rhinos, and the other members of the Big Five of Africa!
This safari is your great opportunity to stand in the vicinity of the Mountain Gorillas, it is a great chance to be in Murchison falls and Queen Elizabeth National Parks where you will likely spot the elusive big cats (that comprise the lions and leopards) and as well interface with the Big Game five of Africa that many people “crave” to see. In between the first and last day of the safari, you will track man’s closest cousin-the chimpanzees, and also explore the world’s longest river-the Nile River.
With this safari, we intend that you receive a life times’ moment with nature by exploring the wonders of Uganda, that you get to learn more about primates by physically observing them, that you narrow your bucket list by ticking more items on your list and that you optimally utilize your holiday by adventuring, meeting new people and enjoying life in Africa.
DAY 1: TRAVEL TO KAYUNGA FOR WHITE WATER RAFTING ON RIVER NILE
Upon arrival, you will embark on a thrilling adventure as you take the route to Kayunga/Jinja to experience the excitement of white water rafting on the majestic Nile River. With rafting excursion, you can choose from the challenging grade 5 or a less strenuous grade 3 option. Regardless of your choice, safety, fun, and excitement are guaranteed.
After a day filled with adventure, you will return to Kampala for an overnight stay at the Dolphin Suites.
DAY 2: TRAVEL TO MURCHISON FALLS NATIONAL PARK WITH ENROUTE RHINO TRACKING AT ZIWA RHINO SANCTUARY
In the early morning, you will embark on an exciting journey to Murchison Falls National Park, the largest National Park in Uganda. Along the way, we will make a detour to the Ziwa Rhino Sanctuary, where you will have the opportunity to observe and learn about the white rhinos in their natural habitat. After tracking the rhinos, we will continue our journey to Murchison Falls National Park. Once there, you will have the chance to explore the top of the magnificent Murchison Falls.
The total travel time from Entebbe to Murchison Falls National Park is approximately 7 hours, which includes the time spent tracking white rhinos at the Ziwa Rhino Sanctuary.
Upon arrival, you will have the opportunity to stay at Fort Murchison. This lodge will provide you with a comfortable and unique experience of the park.
DAY 3: EXPLORATION OF MURCHISON FALLS NATIONAL PARK
As you begin your exploration of Murchison Falls National Park, you will embark on a game drive in the northern circuit of the park, where you will encounter beautiful rolling plains. During this time, you will have the opportunity to spot a variety of wildlife including lions, giraffes, buffaloes, elephants, antelopes, spotted hyenas, leopards, and many other mammals that call the park home.
In the afternoon, you will embark on a boat trip to the bottom of the majestic Murchison Falls, where you will witness the Nile as it thunders through a narrow 7-meter gap and falls 43 meters to create the spectacular falls. This breathtaking experience should not be missed and the powerful thunder of the falls will leave a lasting impression.
After an action-packed day, you will return to the Fort Murchison for your accommodation, where you will have the opportunity to relax and unwind.
DAY 4: TRAVEL TO KIBALE FOREST NATIONAL PARK.
In the early morning, you will embark on a long road trip to Kibale National Park, which will take approximately 7-8 hours of drive time. Though the journey may be lengthy, it offers an authentic experience of the Ugandan countryside. You will have the opportunity to encounter wildlife as you cross the Bugungu Wildlife Reserve and make occasional stopovers to taste fresh Ugandan fruits and take in the natural wonders such as the Rift valley escarpments and lakes. Additionally, you will have the opportunity to learn about the local village set-up.
Upon arrival at Kibale National Park, you will be immediately struck by the natural beauty of the area. The refreshing breeze and stunning surroundings will make you feel instantly at ease. You will have the opportunity to see Blue monkeys and Black and White colobus monkeys that frequent the surrounding areas. The various sounds of the forest and nearby thickets, including the calls of birds and animals, will make you feel fully immersed in nature.
You will be staying at the Kibale Forest Camp, which offers comfortable accommodation and an ideal base for your explorations in the forest.
DAY 5: CHIMPANZEE TRACKING IN KIBALE FOREST AND TRAVEL TO QUEEN ELIZABETH NATIONAL PARK.
On this day, you will have the opportunity to encounter one of humanity’s closest relatives, the chimpanzees of Kibale Forest. Chimpanzees share an impressive 98.7% of their DNA with humans and are known for their sociability, intelligence, and communicative nature. One of the most fascinating traits of chimpanzees is their ability to use tools, such as rocks to crack nuts, empty pods to scoop water, and sticks to capture termites from their mounds.
In addition to chimpanzees, your time in the forest will also provide the opportunity to see a wide variety of other primates, including Colobus Monkeys and Mangabey, as well as other animals. You will also have the chance to see a diverse array of birds, including some that are rare, threatened, and endemic, as well as butterflies, flowers, and other insects.
After a successful tracking of these primates, you will depart for Queen Elizabeth National Park, where you will have the opportunity to enjoy the spectacular views of the Rwenzori ranges along the way.
You will be staying at The Bush Lodge, which offers comfortable accommodation and an ideal base for your explorations in the park.
DAY 6: LION TRACKING IN QUEEN ELIZABETH NATIONAL PARK AND TRANSFER TO BWINDI IMPENETRABLE FOREST
In the early morning, you will embark on a game drive in the Kasenyi plains, where you will have the opportunity to see a variety of animals such as elephants, buffaloes, and antelopes. While these animals are commonly seen on game drives, sightings of lions can be limited. To increase the chances of seeing lions, our itinerary includes a specific lion tracking experience during the game drive in the Kasenyi plains.
After this exciting expedition, you will enjoy lunch before transferring to Bwindi Impenetrable Forest, where you will experience another memorable highlight of this safari.
Upon arrival at the forest, you will have the opportunity to relax at your lodge in preparation for the next day’s activities. Alternatively, you can take an evening walk around the environs of the hotel and engage in bird watching or meet with the local people.
You will be staying at Ride 4 Woman, which offers comfortable, modest accommodation and an ideal place for your explorations in the area.
DAY 7: GORILLA TREKKING IN BWINDI IMPENETRABLE FOREST.
Uganda offers the best opportunity to experience the awe-inspiring mountain gorillas in their natural habitat. With over half of the world’s population of gorillas residing in Bwindi, Uganda offers a unique and unparalleled chance to encounter these magnificent creatures.
As you embark on the gorilla trekking experience, you will journey through the dense and steeply forested hills until you finally come face to face with these peaceful gorillas in their lush green environment. This is an unforgettable and truly wonderful encounter.
Gorilla trekking is a highly sought-after activity, filled with excitement and anticipation as you approach the gorillas. Trekking groups are assigned based on fitness levels and you can request a shorter or longer hike depending on your physical fitness. For many, the chance to trek in such an exotic forest makes a longer hike well worth it.
After this action-packed expedition, you will travel back to the Ride 4 Woman for relaxation and overnight stay.
DAY 8: TRAVEL TO ENTEBBE WITH EN-ROUTE PHOTO SESSION AT THE EQUATOR IN KAYABWE TOWN.
After an incredible journey through Western Uganda, you will embark on your return road trip to Entebbe. During this trip, you will traverse the rolling hills and mountains of the Kigezi and Ankole regions.
You will make a brief stop at the equator crossing, where you will have the opportunity to take photographs and participate in popular activities and experiments that are commonly done at this location. It’s important to note that these experiments have not been scientifically proven but they can be fun to watch.
These experiments include observing how water swirls in opposite directions in the northern and southern hemispheres of the equator line when poured in a basin.
Upon arrival in Entebbe, you will be immediately transferred to the airport for your departure flight.
