VOLCANOES NATIONAL PARK

Volcanoes National Park, located in Northwestern Rwanda and is part of the Virunga Conservation Area. The park covers 160 sq. km and is home to five extinct volcanoes: Muhabura, Sabinyo, Gahinga, Karisimbi, and Bisoke.

Visitors can enjoy spectacular scenery, diverse vegetation, and the opportunity to spot rare gorillas and other wildlife such as golden monkeys, bush duiker, buffalo, and spotted hyenas.

The park is also known as the research base of the late American primatologist Dian Fossey and features a modern museum dedicated to her memory.

Trekking and hiking are popular activities in the park, with options to climb three of the volcanoes over one or two days.
