The Serengeti National Park; the place where the land runs on forever! It is one of Tanzania’s iconic national parks and arguably one of the best places in Africa for safari experience and wildlife viewing. Serengeti National Park is located in the Northern Part of Tanzania.
It is a unique and interesting destination for its abundance of wildlife, unending savannah and pristine landscape. Serengeti is home to thousands of blue wildebeest, zebra, eland and gazelles. The presence of thousands of these wildebeests and zebra attracts and as well favors the existence of predators which keep following them for a healthy meal; lions are estimated to be in the excess of 3000 in number, there are hyenas, leopards and cheetahs, among other carnivores.
The existence of a large population of lions in the Serengeti creates opportunity for visitors to the Serengeti to experience thrilling duels of survival between the lions and the wildebeests as well as other herbivores.
Such moments of thrill and panic are best witnessed in Serengeti! A visit to Kruger National Park of South Africa, Etosha of Namibia or to the Okavango Delta of Botswana will surely give the much desired interface with wildlife and nature, however the experience there does not match the experience given by Serengeti National Park. Life in the jungle is best described by the Serengeti of Tanzania!
It is pertinent to add that the safari becomes far more entertaining if one added to the itinerary the Ngorongoro Crater, Lake Manyara, Tarangire National Park, a brief hike of mountain Kilimanjaro and a visit to the coastal beaches of Zanzibar.
